Control (2013) is a stylish sci-fi noir set in a dystopian city where surveillance, power, and fate collide. Starring Daniel Wu, Yao Chen, and Simon Yam, the film follows a man who becomes entangled in a mysterious conspiracy that challenges his choices and identity. Visually bold and narratively twisty, Control was co-produced by Huayi Brothers and Sil-Metropole, and received an Honorary Mention at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival.
Wish You Were Here (2019) is a cross-cultural drama about memory, grief, and the invisible threads that connect people across time and place. Starring Faye Yu and Takao Osawa, the film follows a woman’s quiet journey from Japan to China as she uncovers the past left behind by love and loss. The film premiered at the Tokyo International Film Festival and was selected as the Closing Night Film at the Toronto Reel Asian Film Festival.
The Drummer (2007) is a coming-of-age drama set against the rhythms of rebellion, tradition, and transformation. Starring Jaycee Chan, Tony Leung Ka-Fai, and Lee Sinje, and U-Theatre, the film follows a young fugitive who finds unexpected discipline and healing through Taiwan’s legendary U-Theatre drumming troupe. It premiered at the Locarno International Film Festival, competed at Sundance, Locarno, Seattle, and won Audience Awards in Toronto Reel Asian Film Festival.
Rice Rhapsody (2004) is a heartfelt dramedy about family, identity, and acceptance in a changing world. Starring Sylvia Chang, Martin Yan, Melanie Laurent, the film centers on a Singaporean mother grappling with her sons’ sexuality and her own expectations. Blending humor and tenderness, it premiered in competition at the Tokyo International Film Festival, screened at numerous festivals including the Pusan International Film Festival, won Best Actress at the Newport Beach Film Festival, earned Best New Director at the Hong Kong Film Awards, and was named one of the Top Ten Chinese Language Films by the Chinese Film Critics Association.
